ABOUT THE NETWORK

Asia Indigenous Peoples Network on Extractive Industries and Energy (AIPNEE) is a regional platform for solidarity and support for Indigenous communities affected by State and corporate-sponsored extractive and energy projects implemented in their territories. Registered in the Philippines as a non-profit organization, it is a network of Indigenous defenders and their organizations working with or supporting the affected communities.

To better highlight Indigenous Peoples’ concerns about extractive and energy projects, assert shared positions for the promotion of their rights, and expose abuses by States and businesses in those contexts, indigenous peoples in Asia initiated the establishment of the AIPNEE in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in March 2013.

Programme

Document and monitor the impact of extractive industries and energy projects on Indigenous Peoples’ rights.

Strengthen information sharing and inter-community exchanges on the situation of the affected Indigenous Peoples and their struggles.
